The role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Components Technician to join the team at our growing Mount Isa branch. Trade qualified technicians are preferred but experienced Trades Assistants or similar with technical knowledge/ aptitude are encouraged to apply. In the role you will be required to perform high quality assessments and repairs of various Sandvik Rock Drills and complete general workshop duties as required.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate technical understanding of Sandvik equipment. You will take a productive approach to ensuring machine performance and will assist customers with their operations through increased productivity, ensuring that we further develop our customer portfolio in the area and the growth of the support team.

Roster: Monday – Friday dayshift only

Areas of responsibility

• To perform work in a safe manner in a team environment
• Adhere to all Sandvik EHS and environmental policies and procedures
• Work collaboratively in a close knit team and have the ability to work autonomously.
• Complete maintenance reports for internal and external stakeholders e.g., report and document on maintenance and/or repairs completed.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and solve common problems, as a first line support.
• Commissioning of products that includes quality inspections and commissioning.
• Understands system functionality and interactions of hydraulics /mechanical and pneumatics systems
• Maintenance and Servicing Equipment.
• Plan for correct tools and parts required to perform tasks, according to work procedures.
• Use knowledge and experience to solve standard problems for customers.
• Assigns simple tasks to junior staff and guides them in completing them.
• Ensures that routine work procedures (using the tools provided), are carried out according to safety standards.

Your profile

• Relevant Trade Qualification preferred – Diesel Fitter or Fitter and Turner or experienced Trades Assistant with technical aptitude.
• Valid Australian Driver’s License
• Forklift license
• Rigger Ticket - desirable
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Solid Microsoft Excel and Teams abilities
• Flexible to work with customer requirements, procedures, and safety policies
• Positive attitude and a high level of determination to achieve targets set for customer satisfaction
• Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Proactive and self-motivated with demonstrated initiative
• Ability to learn and use digital mobile tools and applications
