We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Operator position to be based at our Power Station in Coober Pedy in South Australia. This can either be a full-time residential role or Fly In/Fly Out from Adelaide on a 2 weeks on /2 weeks off roster. This position will require on call responsibilities and reports remotely to the Field Operations Supervisor who is based in Perth.

The purpose of this position will be to operate and maintain the power station plant and equipment in a safe, reliable and cost-efficient manner.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the safety of others.


  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and manage site documentation/correspondence.


  • Initiate and lead onsite preventative and breakdown maintenance programs.


  • Manage Warehouse Stock and Inventory levels.


  • Manage onsite Contractors and Permit to Work


  • Drive efficiency and reliability through planning, innovation and cost management


  • Abide by and promote EDL core "SPIRIT" values.


    Person Specification:
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.


  • Thorough knowledge of safety and environmental standards of practice.


  • Strong commitment to high performance standards.


  • Ability to work autonomously & have a high level of initiative.


  • Trouble shooting and fault-finding skills, able to read and interpret electrical drawings.


  • High Organisational skills, plan and execute site maintenance tasks.


    Qualifications and Experience required:
  • Mandatory- South Australian "A" Grade Electrical License (endorsed 'Electrical Mechanical' preferable, as a minimum endorsed 'Electrical Fitter').


  • Mandatory- Current SA drivers licence ("C" class).


  • Forklift High risk license.


  • Preferrable- HV Switching qualifications.


  • Desirable- (Instrumentation) qualifications.


  • Desirable- Power station, plant or network experience.


  • Desirable- Experience with solar or wind generation systems


  • Knowledge of Maintenance management systems, JSEAs, work orders, Microsoft word, Excel.
  • Ability to carry out low level Diesel Engine and Alternator Servicing, maintenance and fault finding.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, control systems, AVRs, Governors, Protection Relays and UPS Systems
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work Systems


    Successful applicants will be required to undergo medical and background screening prior to commencement with EDL.
