Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Operator / Maintainer (Electrical) will be responsible for all aspects of operating and maintaining gas and diesel fired solar turbines and power generation equipment at McArthur River Mine. This role is FIFO out of Darwin on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining gas and diesel fired power generation equipment.
  • Operating and maintaining High and Low Voltage power systems.
  • Perform regular inspection and maintenance of above equipment to a high standard.
  • Operating and monitoring advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Monitor the power station process to ensure optimum output and security of supply.
  • Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems

  • Carry out routine housekeeping duties
  • Utilise the Maintenance Management and Quality Assurance Systems as part of the daily functions

Person Specification

  • Ability to operate, diesel and gas fired engines and other pressure equipment
  • Trouble shooting and basic diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of process operations in power generation plants
  • Proficiency using computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record and make adjustments within operating parameters
  • Ability to work in a multi-skilled work team
  • Reliable, committed and motivated to achieving Company and team goals and objectives
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised in remote environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a small team environment.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations and sites within Australia for training and relief duties

Qualifications and Experience

  • Electrical trade qualifications and licence
  • HV switching qualifications and proven experience
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Strong working knowledge of power systems and control circuitry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of process operations in power generation plants.
  • First Aid Certificate desirable
