Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring efficient operations of Waste Coal Mine Gas power stations. This role will work in a hands-on capacity supervising a small, multi-skilled team responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power stations. The primary location of this position is Appin, NSW.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Drive safety leadership and promote Health & Safety through setting clear expectations for measurable safety behaviours
  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations, policies and procedures
  • Maintain a culture of reporting and continuous improvement of risk management tools used on site
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership by conducting safety verifications on-site, facilitating safety conversations and sharing safety learnings from customers and contractors
  • Lead and motivate a team of multi-skilled Operator/Maintainers involved in all aspects of maintaining the power stations
  • Organise and maintain training and associated records of all site personnel
  • Manage professional development of team members through PDRs, learning and development plans and performance improvement plans
  • Implement the Waste Coal Mine Gas Customer Charter to exceed customer expectations
  • Maintain operational compliance with approvals, legislation and contracts
  • Deliver budgeted production targets and develop production plans
  • Manage downtime and maintenance in line with station asset management strategies
  • Manage critical and statutory maintenance in line with company policies and procedures
  • Develop and manage site budgets for operating costs (direct & indirect) and capital costs
  • Proven time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage staffing issues while leading and motivating others
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Mechanical or Electrical trade (preferred) or relevant degree qualifications
  • Sound understanding of health and safety, environmental and industrial relations requirements
  • Previous supervisory experience and/or supervisory/management style training

Experience in the following will also be an advantage:

  • Experience within the gas industry or power generation industry
  • Experience with financial planning, budgeting and accounting functions
  • Experience managing and delivering projects
  • Experience with data and analytics
