This is an exciting opportunity to join EDL's Remote Energy Commercial Team. The role will manage, monitor and support a portfolio of projects/contracts with an Operational focus to add value to the Remote Energy business. This position is based in our office in Perth, with some travel to site required.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead/support the management of the existing contract suite including power purchase agreements, gas agreements, connection agreements, electricity market agreements and leases to ensure EDL is abiding by its contractual obligations to its principle customers.
  • Ownership of a defined suite of contracts (by region or nature), but also expected to

    take an interest in adjacent/complimentary projects as required.
  • Lead/support interactions with customers and major suppliers as required to address contractual issues and/or requirements.
  • Lead/support the implementation of new contractual arrangements to support the existing assets.
  • Gain a thorough knowledge of all sales contract documentation including project deeds and major supplier contracts.
  • Lead/support the development of the processes and systems required for compliance with relevant energy market compliance and settlements.
  • Lead/support compliance with various licences and statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with the Australian business development team to deliver growth opportunities while managing commercial risks; this includes assisting/leading commercial negotiations as required.
  • Support the project delivery, finance and operations teams in their understanding of commercial contracts and advise of commercial obligations as required
  • Work with the team of analysts to provide analytical support to all areas of the Remote Energy business as required, and provide insight into improvements and possible corrective actions.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities to maximise value from existing contracts and manage compliance to the requirements of the agreements.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work un-supervised.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve commercial outcomes.
  • Ability to undertake technical analysis of power generation systems performance.
  • Ability to interpret complex commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrated initiative.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Committed.

    Qualifications and Experience
  • Strong computer literacy essential, including basic Word & PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills using Microsoft Excel
  • Tertiary qualification in a finance or energy related discipline, preferably accounting, economics, or engineering.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Renewable Energy highly desirable.
  • Project management experience desirable.
  • Training and/or experience in principles of contract law
  • Experience in the WA Electricity Market, NEM or NT electricity market desirable
  • 2 years' experience in a commercial role desirable
  • 5 years' experience in the power generation industry desirable, with experience in remote energy, solar PV or wind generation highly desirable.
