We are currently recruiting a Senior Operations Engineer to join our Operations Engineering team on a fixed term contract. This position will provide SCADA and control system engineering for the maintenance and support of EDL's operational technology assets.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Actively promote and ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations;
- Ensure that all designated duties are successfully carried out in accordance with safety, technical and legislative policies and procedures
- Liaise with and supervise third party contractors and vendors for maintenance and support of OT assets and issues
- Develop and maintain documentation including QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) standard
- Produce and design documentation to support the execution of projects/works including drawings (schematics, PLC IO, network diagrams etc.), work scopes, technical specifications and functional descriptions, data maps and test documentation.
- Integrate any relevant or required additional data from the projects/works into the Company's Operational systems, including but not limited to PI Historian Platform, Oracle, Training, Teambinder, Sharepoint.
- Utilisation of a helpdesk support system to log support requests, update details for tracking and close jobs
- Interact with other engineering/technical disciplines to deliver improvement projects to EDL's assets.
- Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines in developing, maintaining and improving appropriate control systems for operational and project-based work in some or all of the following areas:
- landfill gas power generation;
- diesel fuel power generation;
- gas fuel power generation;
- CNG and LNG Plant;
- power generation from coal seam methane gas;
- hybrid, renewable generation; and
- landfill gas piping systems and pipelines
- Provide control systems engineering expertise for effective problem solving and troubleshooting complex problems related to OT assets.
- Assist with the implementation of control system engineering standards for asset management, maintenance and projects, including drawings, documentation, and procedures.
- Development of contract scope of work, evaluation of tenders and management of variations as required
- Ensuring on-site compliance with EDL safety policies and procedures
- Monitoring changes to designs and assessing impacts on project/works costs
- Participate in risk management workshops to mitigate project/works risks to the business
- Assist with engagement and provide contractor management of external resources to support the execution of projects/works.
- Ensure compliance with the company's Job Safety Environmental Assessment (JSEA) requirements for non-standard work when undertaking work on site (either at site or via remote).
About you:
We are looking for someone who has an Electrical Engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in the electrical, control system, SCADA and OT space. Experience in application of controls and IT in an industrial power generation environment, in particular, reciprocating engines, small islanded and grid connected, load following/ sharing and pre-emptive load shedding, and; Experience will at least 3 of the following:
- Experience with Citect SCADA- Experience with ClearSCADA/Geo SCADA
- Experience with Ignition SCADA
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Experience with Schneider PLCs
- Experience with ethernet copper and fibre communications including design, specification, installation and troubleshooting.
- Good working knowledge of LAN, WAN and diagnostics and troubleshooting.
