Our Utility person - Mechanical works within a close-knit team to deliver on major works across all Australian sites on Caterpillar Gas and Diesel engines.

The key areas of responsibility for this role include:

  • Working on Caterpillar gas engines.

  • Reconditioning of Cylinder heads and small components.
  • Assessing parts for reuse and reconditioning engines and other equipment.

  • Supervising apprentices in training and teaching correct work practices.

  • Testing engines on completion of overhaul;

  • Painting and prepare engines for dispatch to site;

  • Involved in removal and installation of engines onsite

  • General housekeeping responsibilities;

  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations;

  • Support and comply with Company Policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors; and

  • Any other duties appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position as required.

  • Maintain the safety culture to a high standard.

  • Mentoring / training apprentices.

  • Travel to sites around Australia to undergo breakdown activities.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and the ability to demonstrate initiative. You will also need to have:

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate
  • Abilty to travel to all site across Austrlaia
  • Current Driver's License
  • Experience in diesel/ gas engines is highly desirable
  • Experience in Caterpillar, Deutz, Jenbacher or any large capacity engines is highly desirable
  • Basic computer skills
