About us:
Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is a Victorian government statutory authority and energy safety regulator, responsible for ensuring electricity, gas and pipeline safety for all Victorians. This is achieved through safety systems which audit and monitor the design, construction and maintenance of all electricity and gas networks and installations and by ensuring that appliances and equipment meet safety and energy efficiency standards before they are sold. In addition, comprehensive public awareness campaigns are undertaken to educate the community on the potential dangers of gas and electricity.
About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of Communications & Marketing (CAMS), the Senior Communications Advisor will support the Implementation of ES (Registration and Licensing) Regulations project with end to end strategic communications support, advice and associated tactical implementation. The implementation project is a Victorian Government priority and involves the development of:
- a new licensing regime for lineworkers,
- the concurrent development of a continuing professional development (CPD) program for electrical workers
Both projects have to be delivered by January 1, 2020.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop a communications strategy and associated tactical plans for the implementation of the licensing regime
- Build and maintain strong, productive stakeholder relationships across internal and external stakeholders
- Provide communications support and advice to the Director of Energy Safety, ESV executive and external stakeholders as required
- Develop and implement public relations opportunities, including media and stakeholder events
- Conceive and deliver timely, accurate and engaging digital and social media communications
- Brief the Director of Energy Safety, the ESV executive and external agencies including Victorian Government departments and agencies as appropriate
To be successful, you'll have:
You will have significant experience in a similar communications, media, public relations position, with strong media and engagement understanding of public sector organisations. Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing communications strategies and plans. Proven ability to develop and maintain highly effective internal and external stakeholder relationships. Experience in Government communications, and the ability to assess and synthesise complex technical information into clear and coherent communications such as media releases, speaking notes or copy for the website.
Additionally a tertiary qualification in media relations or a related field is required.
