Our Exciting Opportunity:
Ericsson Australia is growing! As a result, We are looking for a corporate Legal Counsel to provide professional legal services regarding contract drafting and negotiations, regulatory legal compliance, intellectual property rights, changes in law that affect the business and dispute resolution. Candidates with technology experience and working in or advising to businesses operating in Asia are preferred. The preferred candidate will be located in Sydney or Melbourne.
In this role, you would:
- Be part of Ericsson’s Southeast Asia, Oceania and India Market Area (MOAI) Legal Team
- Provide some legal support to the Australian and New Zealand business but primarily focussed on supporting the MOAI Legal Team with projects and contract negotiations as required
- Provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal advice and counselling to internal clients in complex matters, including contractual matters, legal compliance and dispute resolution that relate to Ericsson’s business
- Structure, negotiate and draft legal documents, including contracts for sale and purchase of goods or services
- Support regional or global activities as needed, such as, company acquisitions or divestments or Collaborate with external customers and suppliers and their Legal Counsel.
- Provide Legal training
- Advise the business in regards changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect Ericsson’s business and telecommunications
- Perform additional ad hoc Legal assignments as required
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Education: Bachelor of Law
- 5+ years of experience with a major law firm or inhouse legal department, engaged in commercial transaction practice, having familiarity with the high tech (and preferably the IT and/or telecommunications) industry. Having worked for a high-tech company is a benefit
- Good presentation, education, communication, drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, and ability to build internal relationships
- Ability to think analytically, solution focussed and with strong attention to detail
- Business Competence: High interest, good knowledge and understanding
- Ability to successfully prioritize and engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information
- Sound legal judgement, reasoning and considered decision-making skills
- High level of attention to detail, flexibility and responsiveness in the provision of legal advice in a complex environment with changing and competing priorities
- Ability to work independently, proactive time management and strong organisational skills with proven ability to work autonomously
- Understanding how to apply legal theory into practice to achieve solid commercial outcomes
- Willingness to develop knowledge and skills in different legal areas and in multiple Ericsson businesses
