About the role

We are currently recruiting for Senior Application Support Specialist – Operational Technology. This role will lead the implementation, support, and training of tools within the support team's focus area. You will provide expert advice on operational technology products, ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

A passion for continuous improvement in digital operations will be realised by challenging the status quo. This role will be accountable for technical leadership in a team responsible for 24/7 support and for the management of critical operational systems for our System Control, Contact Centre and Field Operations functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and delivery of coaching and support within the Digital Services team, ensuring systems are used safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Ensure interoperability and security governance of systems between corporate and OT, in line with industry and business policies.
  • Manage multiple vendors, measure operational performance, and provide technical expertise to drive improvements and positive outcomes.
  • Foster collaboration between vendors and technical teams to solve complex, time-critical problems.
  • Continuously develop technical understanding of current and emerging technologies in DMS/OMS environments, supporting System Control services and Field Operations.

This is a temporary fixed term contract t for 12 months and can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.  

About You

You will have significant technical leadership experience in IT application support or development environments, with deep expertise in DMS/OMS platforms and ITSM management, applying ITIL principles.

A proven track record of resolving operational issues with System Control and aligning new initiatives with system capabilities. Exposure to consulting services, managing third-party vendors, and supporting a wide range of applications. Excel in sharing knowledge, providing support, and training to the business.

Additionally, you will have strong communication skills to present knowledge and ideas clearly to diverse audiences within the organisation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Information Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.

Desirable

  • Industry qualifications in industrial control system applications
  • Qualifications in project management
  • Certification in related application technology
  • Extensive understanding of distributed industrial control systems in the utility industry
  • Electrical engineering qualifications.
