We are currently recruiting a Cyber Operations Manager, to join our Essential Technology, Cyber department. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint throughout NSW.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security, the Cyber Operations Manager will be accountable for overseeing the proactive response of cyber operations capability. This includes the responsibility for ensuring continual improvement using threat intelligence and detection engineering.
In this role, you will implement proactive countermeasures such as threat hunting and threat intelligence, while also managing detection and response measures. Your goal will be to ensure minimal impact on our business operations in the event of a cyber incident.
As the Cyber Operations Manager you will be responsible for leading a team of dedicated cyber security professionals and overseeing various aspects of security operations, intelligence, vulnerability, and engineering perspectives.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure protection and detection capabilities within the cyber operations team are acquired, developed, executed and are consistent with Essential Energy cybersecurity policies and procedures
- Manage protective or corrective measures when a cybersecurity incident is discovered and ensure plans of actions and milestones, or remediation plans are in place for vulnerabilities identified during risk assessments and audits
- Develop and mentor team members to support career development and personal growth
- Manage the proactive measures such as Threat Hunting and Threat Detection Engineering, which includes the threat or target analysis of cyber information and production of threat information
About You
To excel in this position, you will possess strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and managing a team of cyber security professionals. Your deep understanding of security operations, threat hunting, and threat intelligence will be crucial in driving our cyber security initiatives.
A strong background in vulnerability assessment and engineering perspectives will also be valuable in this role. Your ability to identify vulnerabilities, recommend and implement appropriate solutions, and provide guidance on security best practices will contribute to our overall security resilience.
More specifically you have:
- Previous experience working in a Cyber Operations capacity and the ability to manage incidents outside normal business hours
- Experience delivering Enterprise-wide awareness and learning activities for information and cyber security
- Experience in the implementation of policy, standards, procedures and controls for information security and monitoring the application and compliance with information security policy and standards
- Proven experience in consultancy governance through managing a blended group of internal and external resources and holding third parties to account to agreed OLAs and SLAs
Required Qualification
Bachelor of Computer Science or Information Technology, Business or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
Desirable
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Information/Cyber Security
- Security Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, SSCP etc.
