Our Transmission Services department is currently experiencing a surge in major connections projects which has accelerated the requirement for additional resources across NSW. We have number of exciting, new opportunities that have become available to fuel momentum and bolster our capacity to achieve our ambitious business objectives.
We are currently recruiting two Senior Technical Communications Technicians, to join our Transmission Services department. These roles can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint throughout NSW.
About the role
The Senior Technical Communications Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair and integration of mobile radio, microwave radio, data, telephony and SCADA communication infrastructure systems.
The role also requires taking responsibility for leading project work relating specialist installations and providing high level technical and analytical support for business units and customers.
Key responsibilities
- Be responsible for the overall installation, acceptance testing, commissioning and maintenance of mobile radio, microwave radio, data, telephony and SCADA communication infrastructure systems to specified service levels and agreements
- Take responsibility for integrating new technology and systems into existing infrastructure and ensure programs are developed for maintenance and condition monitoring of mobile radio, microwave radio, data, telephony, fibre optic and SCADA communication systems
- Be accountable for the provision of analytical evaluation of systems and network faults and undertake remediation work to ensure ongoing serviceability of the existing infrastructure to agreed service levels
- Strategically assist senior management in the review and preparation of recommendation reports for existing and future communication asset infrastructure needs for current sites, conditions and any increases in network performance requirements
About You
As Senior Technical Communications Officer you will possess excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make appropriate decisions in compliance with company policies, procedures, and best practice. Your success will be dependent on your strong ability to resolve and manage telecommunications assets in line with business plans which will come from excellent skills and experience in the installation, commissioning and maintenance of communication and telecommunication infrastructure.
Required Qualifications/Skills
- Demonstrated experience in a similar communications role in a large geographically diverse environment and/or Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering
- Experience in installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing of infrastructure such as mobile radio, microwave radio, data, telephony, communications cabling, and SCADA communication systems
- Analytical and report preparation experience and knowledge to undertake reviews of existing infrastructure and integration requirements for future business and operational needs
- ACMA Open registered cabler with the competencies: Structured, Optical-fibre cable, Co-axial cable
