We are currently recruiting a Transmission and Major Program Services Manager to join our Major Projects and Transmission Management team. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint throughout NSW.
About the role
The Transmission and Major Program Services Manager is responsible for leading the Major Project and Transmission (MPT) Program Services function. The Major Project and Transmission (MPT) Program Services function provides services that enable disciplined, efficient, and effective delivery of major works aligned with Essential Energy’s Strategic Business Objectives and Strategic Asset Management Plans.
The Transmission and Major Program Services Manager will manage the processes, systems, and resources to deliver high quality support services to the major project management and transmission teams, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Accountable for the strategic leadership of the Major Project and Transmission (MPT) Program Services function, including the performance management, mentoring, coaching and development of employees to achieve business goals and to prepare them for potential career advancement
- Develop and lead highly engaged teams to ensure high quality delivery of the services required to deliver major projects and transmission works from pre-construction works through project delivery and conducting post implementation reviews
- Promote and build a strong workplace culture across Essential Energy that promotes safety focused, customer-centric, efficient, and commercially sound behaviors
- Lead and manage governance and reporting practices for the Major Projects and Transmission branch. Practices include scope, financial, risk, schedule and change control, post implementation reviews, and ensuring process and documentation adherence. This will involve preparation of reports for relevant internal and external stakeholders including senior management/Executive and the Board
- Coordination of contact management services for the Major Projects and Transmission branch, including oversight of contract management practices and assurance of practice adherence
About You
In order to be successful as Transmission and Major Program Services Manager, you will possess:
- Significant leadership, people, resourcing and budget management experience
- Industry experience in energy, infrastructure or other asset-intensive industries with a particular focus on managing operations and safety in a high-risk environment
- Demonstrated experience in the development of long-term operational plans
- Extensive stakeholder and relationship management skills, with an ability to effectively communicate, partner and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholders and customers
- Professional experience in delivery of services to support complex works and network delivery programs
Required Qualifications/Skills
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or other relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience through past employment and/or relevant qualifications
- Strong contract management skills, particularly for large, complex commercial negotiations
- Exceptional customer focus and demonstrated ability to build customer-centric operational solutions
- Proven experience leading and delivering substantial transformation and change
- Strong understanding of risk management and safety principles, including consequence, likelihood and residual risk
- Sound understanding of the legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks and their impact on day-today operations and commercial opportunities.
Desirable
- Post graduate qualification in engineering, management, or economics.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMI PMP or PRINCE2).
