We are currently recruiting a Manager Data Platforms Engineering and Delivery to join our Digital Services division. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Data and Digital Portfolio, as the Manager of Data Platforms, Engineering, and Delivery, you will oversee a team of talented technology professionals, providing direction for platform development, implementation, and maintenance.

Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of projects and initiatives related to data and analytics on the enterprise platform.

In addition to leading the technical aspects, you will play a strategic role by offering advice, guidance, and support to senior key stakeholders and subject matter experts. Your influence will be felt across all facets of data platforms, from design to delivery and support, ensuring alignment with our enterprise-wide target data architecture. You will also be responsible for reviewing and approving key design documents.

This role is not just about managing data platforms; it's about driving a data vision and working collaboratively with other data and analytics stakeholders across our organisation to make it a reality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction in the establishment and management of a team of technology professionals, facilitating capability uplift to support organisational objectives, goals, and continuous maturity growth
• Define, develop, and implement an enterprise-wide reporting strategy and supporting functional level strategies that enable the business to self-service business unit specific datasets, reporting requirements and dashboards
• Proactively contribute to ensuring the right training and guidance is provided to the business in understanding access, available data, and interaction methods
• Lead the development and implementation of data platforms, including evaluating technical requirements, selecting appropriate technologies, and overseeing the design, development, and testing processes to ensure alignments with architectural intent
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to define platform requirements, ensure technical feasibility, and drive successful platform deployments
• Work closely with stakeholders to align on solution architecture design, approach to data acquisition and selection and implementation of tools for governance, architecture, and quality

About You

To add value, you have demonstrated experience in software development, platform development, or software delivery management roles.

More specifically you have:

• Technical expertise in software development technologies and methodologies, such as Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery
• Project management skills, including project planning, risk management, and resource allocation
• Experience with quality assurance best practices and tools for software development
• Knowledge of architecting and engineering cloud-based data solutions with the following products: Azure Cloud platforms with a focus on Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Vaultspeed, DevOps
• Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala
• Experience with SQL-based technologies

Required Qualification

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications
