About the role
We are currently recruiting a Senior Engineering Officer – Network Design, to join our South Design Team. This role can be based from Bathurst with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.
We are seeking motivated and passionate individuals who have experience with the design of overhead and underground power distribution networks in the utility sector. You will be working on a geographically diverse electricity network utilising the latest 3D power line design software. This is a key role at the forefront of the electricity transition. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects from distribution and sub-transmission line extensions and upgrades, network defect assessments, pole top batteries, new solar and wind farm connections, community battery projects and stand-alone power systems design.
As a Senior Engineering Officer within the Design Services branch you will be responsible to complete the end-to-end design process to deliver a safe and effective design package by-
- Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external, such as planners, construction teams, landholders, local councils and other relevant authorities.
- Completing the design as per the scope of works following design processes, procedures and relevant standards.
- Model overhead and underground designs using the latest 3D powerline design software.
- Produce detailed plans using a CAD drawing package.
- Complete environmental impact assessments.
- Engaging and managing external contractors to provide services such as asset locations, geo technical studies, electrical and civil works.
- Being agile and capable of managing changing work priorities when required.
About You
In order to be successful as Senior Engineering Officer – Network Design, you will possess:
- Experience in a similar design role in the energy/electrical and/or utilities industry
- Good knowledge and application of current design philosophies, procedures, statutory requirements
- Demonstrated experience to utilise analytical and technical knowledge to manage activities during planned and unplanned events providing appropriate solutions to technical/engineering issues in a complex and ever-changing electricity distribution network.
- Experienced in using powerline design software. A sound knowledge of Neara and PLS CADD is highly desirable.
- Experienced in producing plans using CAD software such as AutoCad or Microsation.
- Experience with the design of sub-transmission and transmission line networks is highly desirable.

- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver technical services in a professional and timely manner
- Strong time management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills, to be able to handle a varying complex workload
- Ability to train and mentor junior design staff when required.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering or Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical) or Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical).
- WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
- Current Driver's Licence
