About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Capital Works Program Manager to join our Portfolio Services team. Ideally, this role will be based in Port Macquarie but can be based within Essential Energy’s operational footprint across NSW.

The Capital Works Program Manager will be responsible for the front-end development, forecasting and monitoring of various capital programs across the Network Portfolio of Essential Energy. The Capital Works Program Manager ensures programs are prepared, planned and deliverable by the business, are managed with consideration of the broader Network (Electricity System) Portfolio and administered in accordance with our Investment Governance Framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake forecasting and baselining exercises for our Network Portfolio programs.
  • Create, maintain and drive the progression of Programs within systems.
  • Monitor, control and report of Program performance
  • Facilitate and support the development of both CAPEX & OPEX programs, including analysing key risks and constraints as well as making recommendations on Program priorities.
  • Foster strong working relationships with Essential Energy’s broad program stakeholder base
  • Provide insights and data back to the business on resource demand, expenditure and prioritisation to enable strategic making.
  • Support Portfolio optimisation to ensure value maximisation, efficient resource utilisation and risk mitigation across the network.
  • Provide guidance, insights and Portfolio-level advice to support the Program/Project Managers in their accountability for delivering programs under their control, empowering them to make decisions within the scope of their responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer service and safety excellence.

About You

You will have experience in Portfolio or Program management, teamed with a strong understanding of Project Management principles. You will possess a working knowledge of a utility business model, regulatory requirements and be capable of developing and applying governance frameworks within a regulated environment. The role will suit someone who is detail oriented and enjoys analysing data and trends. An excellent communicator, you will utilise your interpersonal skills to work effectively across diverse groups of stakeholders to achieve best outcomes.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Management, Project Management or related discipline or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of portfolio, program or project management frameworks (e.g.P30, P3M3, PMBoK)
  • Proven skills and experience in leadership, organisational change and systems management relating to investment/project delivery
  • Experience in developing large Capital works programs that consider a diverse range of constraints and challenges
  • Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements e.g.WHS, IPART, AER, Electricity Act, etc
  • Working knowledge of asset management practices and standards including AS ISO 55001:2014
  • Experience using Copperleaf Investment Planning Tool is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience using Oracle WACS also advantageous.
