About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Geographical Information System (GIS) Specialist to join the Spatial Data Services Team.
As GIS Specialist you are responsible for providing technical support, configuration advice and spatial data services to users and stakeholders of Essential Energy’s GIS applications across the business.
In addition, you are also required to monitor data quality and provide resolution for the GIS data to ensure efficient ongoing operation as well as identify opportunities for data improvement.
This is a permanent role and can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint, with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.
About You
You will have extensive experience in a similar GIS role in the Construction, Energy/Electrical or Utilities industry, whilst working with Smallworld GIS data structures, relational databases, system interfacing and associated system design. In addition, you will have;
- Working knowledge and understanding of business and operational processes supported by the GIS team
- Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into data enhancing technical solutions
- A strong cartographic skillset within the GE Smallworld environment, as well as other GIS applications (QGIS / ArcMap / ArcGIS Online)
- Experience in spatial data quality troubleshooting, reporting and management, providing support to end users
- Working knowledge of process development, analysis and preparing technical and complex business documents
- Practical experience working with spatial manipulation tools including FME Workbench and ESRI Applications to identify, analyse, report and manage data
- Working knowledge of, or experience in, electricity distribution systems.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma of Information Technology or Diploma of Spatial Information Services or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and / or relevant qualifications
