About the role
We are currently recruiting a Senior Data Analyst to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The Senior Data Analyst will lead the delivery of a program of high quality and timely data modelling, BI reporting, and analytics for Evolution Mining, initially across the Operational Mining Services, HR and Finance functions, as well as mentoring and supporting data analysts assisting in the delivery of this program of work. This role will also involve significant stakeholder engagement as you work with stakeholders to define and document business requirements and programme manage the implementation of analytics solutions that meet and exceed customer needs and expectations.
You will design and develop robust data models that support BI requirements and enable efficient data analysis, utilising this data analysis to advise business stakeholders on patterns, trends and insights. You will also develop comprehensive documentation, including business glossary, data rules and update to continue alignment with evolving business needs.
Your Power BI skills will be well used as you create and maintain visually appealing and interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualisations, ensuring their accuracy, reliability and efficiency by optimising data model performance. These insightful analytics will enable data driven decision making across our business. You’ll monitor Power BI performance to identify and resolve potential bottlenecks and inefficiencies and proactively suggest and implement measures to enhance the performance and responsiveness of Power BI solutions.
You’ll use your technical knowledge and coaching skills to provide guidance and mentorship to members of the BI and analytics teams, promoting a high performing and collaborative environment.
About you
You will ideally be degree qualified with significant experience working as a data analyst, or reporting analyst, designing and delivering data visualisations and reporting. You’ll have the ability to translate complex data into understandable reports for stakeholders and provide information that enables insight and action. You’ll have extensive experience working in Power BI and previous Qlik experience is also highly desirable. Your strong command of SQL and other data querying languages will assist as you extract, manipulate, and analyse data. Solid understanding of star schema-based Kimball data modelling is required, as well as experience in statistical modelling and advanced analytics techniques in Python. Previous experience working in a mining environment will be viewed favourably, however those without mining experience who meet other role requirements are still encouraged to apply.
In this role you will utilise your excellent collaborative and customer service skills as you apply your expertise and technology to analyse and meet stakeholder expectations, and deliver results. You’ll have a strong problem-solving capability, demonstrating a strategic “whole of business” approach to problem solving, while also maintaining an eye for detail, and showcasing the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. You’ll also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of different stakeholders across our business, at both a site and group level.
