About the role

This position is responsible for supervising and carrying out all mine survey activities to appropriate standards. This will entail overseeing the preparation and maintenance of all mine surveying plans, managing the survey control data base for operations, and working closely with the technical team and contractors to achieve safety and production targets at all times.

Key Areas of responsibility include:

• Supervising, mentoring, and facilitating the development of the mine survey team
• Taking a leading role in the day-to-day activities of the mine technical services section i
• Liaising with the geology, engineering and mine production teams in order to co-ordinate and implement daily, weekly and longer-term project work for the survey team
• Playing an active and hands on role regarding subsistence monitoring, EOM survey and computation, daily survey mark out, (ie drill and blast, grade control, production, level etc.)
• Developing new and reviewing current procedures and safe work practices within the technical services section
• Meeting legislative, regulatory, and Evolution policy requirements while aligning with business objectives

• Leading a safety culture of continuous improvement and playing an active role in our Net Zero 2050 goal

About you:

The ideal candidate will have, previous experience in either open pit mining or underground hard rock mining as a surveyor. You must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and a willingness to learn and progress within the organisation.

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

• Formal qualification in Surveying or related discipline
• Drone flying experience (surface and underground) highly regarded
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop a mine survey team
• Competency using modern survey instrumentation and associated computer systems
• Exposure to Deswik CAD and MDM is desirable
• A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
