Job Description
We are looking for a Data Scientist for our Marketing Services unit to help us unlock insight from our vast amounts of data via predictive modelling and data analytics, enabling us to make smarter decisions and deliver great products to our clients. Your primary focus will be in building commercial data products: we need to transform raw data into information that enable the creation of attributes and variables, which will be used by clients to enhance their own analytics initiatives, enabling them to make better informed decisions.
You will also be supporting our business teams, pre-sales and analytics to ensure optimal product creation.
Ideally suited to someone who has graduated or has 1-2 years’ experience as a Data Scientist, although we might consider an experienced data engineer or analyst ready for the next step, who’s keen to take on a new challenge within a company that offers vast opportunities for career progression and development.
What you’ll need to bring to the role & Experian
- You must have a problem solver spirit who can get a question and use data to answer in a clear and straight-forward way.
- You must be self-directed and eager for knowledge.
- We want you to be excited by the prospect of working with large and diverse datasets.
- Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication: You will be given the chance to work with the latest and shiniest Data Science developments such as LLMs, NLPs and generative AI but we expect you to be proficient in the simpler models.
Work that matters - What you’ll be doing
- Using quantitative methods to perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) in Experian’s data setsusing markdown tools such as jupyter.
- Data quality is at our hearts’ core: You will need to apply the best standards to data and collaborate with our data engineers on how to implement solutions for your findings.
- You are expected to perform the necessary data preparation as part of building your models, later ‘porting’ your markdown analyses into scripts that can be executed in an automated way using tools e.g. Dagster, Airflow, MLFlow, etc. and guiding the data engineers into how to replicate your data preparation steps.
- You will need to present your work either as markdown reports or graphically through dashboards when needed. We use both Tableau and PowerBI but we welcome Open Source alternatives.
- You may be involved in providing enablement to either our consulting team or clients (or even with our global team) on how a particular model or solution works.
Qualifications
More about you
- You must carry a strong knowledge of the basics: Probabilistic distributions, Regressions, Decision trees and Gradient boosting models, and have played a bit with unsupervised modelling for clustering such as dbscan, k-means, GMM, HMM and hierarchical clustering.
- Strong knowledge of SQL. Knowledge of DBT and Snowflake is a great add.
- Strong knowledge of Python (both for markdown tools e.g. jupyter and python scripting). Knowledge of Dagster is a great add.
- Data visualization and storytelling, with either Tableau or PowerBI, or any other visualization framework.
- Basic knowledge of containers (Docker) and AWS Cloud
- Basic knowledge of Git
- Ideally, you’ll be a graduate or have 1~2 years experience in roles such as Data Scientist, Data Analyst or Data Engineer and have a qualification in either Economics, Mathematics (STEM) or Finance
