Description
We are looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our team. As a Quantity Surveyor at FSC, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting construction projects, including infrastructure projects for various clients in the road, rail, marine and utilities as well as buildings and energy sector projects.
You will play a key role in the commercial and financial management of projects, working closely with Project Managers and Commercial Managers. You’ll contribute across all phases of the project lifecycle - from procurement and contract administration through to closeout and final accounts.
You will work with our clients and other FSC team members to plan, deliver and hand over projects throughout Victoria.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions
- Monitor and manage project costs, budgets, and cashflow to maintain accurate financial performance
- Procure and administer subcontracts including the monthly claim process in accordance with delegated authority
- Assess and manage variations, progress claims, payment schedules, and subcontractor invoices
- Conduct cost forecasting, financial reporting and end‑of‑month commercial reviews
- Assist in procurement of materials and ensure accurate record keeping for cost tracking
- Contribute to project planning, cost risk analysis, and resource allocation
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders
- Support contractual compliance including reviewing, interpreting and administering contract terms
Requirements
You will be a motivated and proactive quantity surveyor with the right combination of energy and a commitment to learning. You will bring your perspective and skills to diverse projects, and have ambition to design your own career path.
You will also have:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or another construction‑related degree
- 5 years’ experience delivering civil infrastructure or construction projects
- Chartered with RICS and/or AIQS or registered and actively working towards obtaining Chartership
- Strong understanding of major contract forms (AS2124, AS4000, NEC, etc.)
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise positively with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of innovative client solutions
- Be willing and open to partaking in Business Development activities and drive further business for FSC
