An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join our Fulton Hogan Construction team based in Sydney. We are looking for a leader who will support and motivate our design teams – ensuring the focus remains on safety, quality, cost and schedule in the planning and execution of the work.
Based in Alexandria, this role offers great opportunities for you to showcase your skills and experience on high profile projects. We offer excellent employee benefits and pathways for further growth with a strong pipeline of technically complex projects.
- Lead design teams in the successful delivery of the design process through proactive interaction with the Client, design consultants, Independent Project Verifier, construction delivery team and stakeholders.
- Review the tender and detailed designs, provide feedback to Estimators and Construction Planners.
- Negotiate and finalise Tender and Design Services Agreements in conjunction with the Project Director/Manager or the Commercial Manager.
- Review and monitor the tender design and construction programs against milestones to ensure that the design program is robust and meets the contractual requirements of the project
- Understand the concept of formal relationship contracting models that encourage a one team culture and “best for project” outcomes.
- Be confident to challenge processes and create an environment where innovation and continuous improvement is embraced during the delivery of the design.
How you’ll connect to the role?
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering or equivalent;
- A leadership style that has created successful and efficient Design teams for Infrastructure (Road/Rail/Bridge design) Projects;
- Excellent ability to understand and interpret project and client specific requirements;
- Well-developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills;
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple workloads with the flexibility and ease to adapt to situations;
- Be confident to challenge processes and create an environment where innovation and continuous improvement is embraced during the delivery of the design;
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and a basic knowledge of Navisworks and/or 12D.
