About the role
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Manager you will be responsible for the provision of mechanical maintenance for all fixed and mobile equipment within GeelongPort in line with safety, environment and quality procedures. GeelongPort is a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation. This role is required to support these hours and employees are rostered and the shifts are rotating.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Ensure operational shift coverage is provided as required, maintaining 24/7 availability, reliability, and capability of GeelongPort assets.
- Deliver mechanical maintenance in alignment with GeelongPort standards and in full compliance with company policies, procedures, and all regulatory requirements.
- Proactively monitor, follow up, and resolve issues related to both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset to enhance the performance of equipment, plant, and systems
- Maintain clear and effective communication with management regarding equipment status and maintenance matters
- Keep comprehensive and up-to-date records for all maintenance work performed
- Carry out all maintenance activities in strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Comply with all GeelongPort’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures at all times.
- Contribute to the development of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Instructions (SWIs), and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) as required.
- Provide operational or technical support to other departments whenever necessary.
This role will offer you exposure to all aspects of GeelongPort’s operations. GeelongPort will allow you to diversify your experience, with exposure to the maritime industry.
About your experience
We are seeking a trade-qualified mechanical fitter with exceptional communication skills and a proven commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate the flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster and will approach challenges with a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving abilities. Confidence to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment is essential.
Other essential skills for the role include:
- Experience with bulk material handling equipment and systems
- Familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Undertake maintenance in accordance with technical specifications and procedures.
- Ability to read and understand technical data and drawings.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Effective communication skills both oral and written.
- A positive “can – do” and enthusiastic approach to your job
- Valid driver’s License (heavy rigid preferred)
