The Opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Manager is responsible for the financial integrity, compliance and performance of GeelongPort Pty Ltd, Port of Geelong Unit Trust and related entities.
This is a hands on role that blends governance, reporting, and commercial support, leading the finance function and working closely with executives, the Board, and stakeholders. You will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure integrity and compliance, oversee timely reporting, and contribute to budgeting, financial modelling, planning, and commercial analysis.
Key responsibilities
Financial integrity & compliance
- Ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting in line with Australian Accounting Standards, the Corporations Act, and relevant federal and state legislation
- Maintain balance sheet integrity and strong financial controls
Financial management & support
- Develop and deliver timely, high-quality management, board, treasury, bank and KPI reporting
- Development of annual budgets, financial modelling and strategic plans, including performance analysis and variance reporting.
- Manage the treasury function to ensure liquidity and funding to support operations and growth
Commercial analysis & strategic support
- Deliver complex financial modelling and data-driven analysis for existing and future trade opportunities
- Provide trusted financial advice to leaders across the organisation to support informed decision-making
People leadership
- Support and mentor the finance team
- Foster a high-performance, accountable and collaborative finance function
What You’ll Bring
You are an experienced Finance Manager with a strong track record of delivering financial excellence. Your focus on compliance, accuracy, and ongoing improvement ensures effective financial management.
Your background includes:
- CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent).
- Significant experience in a finance role within a complex organisation.
- Proven track record in compliance, statutory reporting, and audit management.
- Strong commercial acumen and extensive experience in financial modelling and analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management, including engagement with executive teams and boards.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, Corporations Act, and federal/state financial regulations.
