Why Join Georgiou - A STRABAG company

Georgiou is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our NSW business and play a key role in shaping the delivery, growth and future direction of our infrastructure operations. This role has been positioned as a critical leadership appointment, supporting the ongoing growth of the NSW business while providing a pathway for broader leadership responsibilities over time.

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an accomplished infrastructure leader who has successfully delivered major complex D&C projects and is ready to influence outcomes beyond individual projects. Working closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team, you will provide oversight across a portfolio of works, strengthen client relationships, support business growth initiatives and help drive the strategic direction of the NSW business.

Why You'll Love Working Here

At Georgiou-now proudly part of STRABAG SE, one of Europe's largest construction technology groups-you'll join a business where local expertise meets global opportunity. For nearly 50 years, we've built Australia's infrastructure and our reputation for being the best people to work with.

With Georgiou's local knowledge and experience and STRABAG's forward-thinking innovation, we're delivering projects that connect communities, develop people, and set new industry benchmarks, all while staying true to the culture and values that make Georgiou unique.

  • Build impact that lasts - work on iconic projects shaping Australian communities.
  • Grow without limits - access world-class training, mentoring, and career pathways across Australia and STRABAG's global network.
  • Flexibility that works for you - enjoy wellbeing leave, paid parental leave, and support to help you stay connected to life beyond work.
  • Belong and be supported - inclusive facilities like free hygiene products, parental and prayer rooms, and wellbeing programs.
  • A culture that cares - our values of Care, Integrity, and Excellence guide everything we do.
  • Reward for your work - competitive packages, annual reviews, and access to the Georgiou Perks discounts platform.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide leadership across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects while helping drive commercial performance, client satisfaction and long-term business growth.

This role extends beyond project delivery. You will be a trusted advisor to the business, contributing to strategic planning, strengthening client relationships and helping identify opportunities that position Georgiou for future success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a portfolio of major infrastructure projects to achieve outstanding safety, operational and commercial outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients, partners and key industry stakeholders.
  • Understand client needs and help position Georgiou for future opportunities and repeat work.
  • Support business development initiatives through market intelligence, industry engagement and client relationship management.
  • Provide strategic input into the growth and future direction of the NSW business.
  • Partner with project teams to optimise project performance, forecast accuracy, contractual position, risk management and profitability.
  • Drive consistency across project delivery, governance, systems and operational excellence.
  • Mentor, coach and develop Project Managers and senior leaders while fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Build leadership capability across the business through succession planning and talent development.
  • Critically review project performance and implement actions that improve commercial, operational and client outcomes.
  • Support tender reviews, project mobilisation and key project transitions.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, resourcing and business planning initiatives.

Your Skills and Experience

You are an accomplished infrastructure leader who combines strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and people leadership with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated success leading major complex D&C infrastructure projects within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor environment.
  • Experience across major transport, water or similarly complex infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong strategic capability and the ability to influence outcomes at both project and business unit level.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain executive-level client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to critically assess project financial performance, forecasts, contracts, risks and margins.
  • Experience overseeing the performance of multiple projects and managing a portfolio of work.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships, coach and develop high-performing teams while driving accountability.
  • Confidence in setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback and navigating challenging conversations when required.
  • Strong understanding of project establishment, mobilisation, governance, project controls and operational delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify emerging risks, gaps and opportunities and drive appropriate action.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
