Gold Fields' mining assets in the Australia region (GFA) include a 100% interest in the St Ives, Agnew and Granny Smith mines and a 50:50 interest in the Gruyere JV project with Gold Road Resources.
Role Details:
Reporting to the Superintendent: Resource Geology, you will be responsible for assisting with generating, maintaining and reviewing the operation’s mineral inventory and Mineral Resource models, focusing on the Granny Smith Gold Mine.

This role is offered on a 5 days on 2 days off roster (Monday – Friday) at our Perth corporate office on a permanent basis with site visits as required. For this role we will consider full-time, part-time or job share options.

About the role:
- Develop resource models for mines and exploration projects;
- Demonstrate a strong focus on model reconciliation with an ability to interrogate the causes of changes to models and demonstrate the impact on the resulting model;
- Prepare and complete all reporting requirements with the appropriate level of details within agreed timeframes;
- Comply with external audits and industry best practice by ensuring that all prepared models meet the requirements of SEC, SAMREC and SOX standards;
- Maintain a strong involvement with the QA/QA function in order to ensure the quality of data supporting the resource models;
- Assist, support and train relevant Mineral Resources personnel in resource estimation practices;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the financial implications and impacts of resource model quality on mining and exploration decisions;
- Produce high quality, accurate resource models;
- Audit and review local mine and exploration models and provide inputs to improve quality of estimation;
- Manage business and estimation risks;
- Define and guide appropriate sampling and estimation procedures on the mine.
About you:
- Bachelor of Science in Geology or related discipline with strong mathematical & statistical emphasis
- Extensive experience as a Mine or Exploration Geologist with exposure to Resource and Grade Control estimation in the gold mining and exploration industry
- Proven geological interpretation skills with the ability to apply this to Resource estimation
- Experience with Ordinary Kriging and estimation quality optimisation
- Understanding of QA/QC procedures, drilling and sampling practices and standard gold industry laboratory analytical methods
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Datamine, Leapfrog, geostatistical software such as Supervisor or Isatis and Acquire databases
