Role Details:

Reporting to the Supervisor: Geological Services, you will be responsible for assisting the core processing team to facilitate optimum production for underground operations with a direct focus on processing diamond drill core samples at the St Ives core shed. As an employee at Gold Fields, we expect all levels of employees to act in a manner that seeks to align and enhance the values, safety culture and performance of Gold Fields with the purpose of creating enduring value beyond mining.

This role is offered as residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie on an 8 days on 6 days off roster. Bus transportation is offered to and from site to residential candidates.

Working in the Core Shed performing the following duties.

About Role:

• Processing Diamond Drill Core including orientation, metre marking, RQD, recovery, core photography and cutting / sampling using Almonte core saw
• Complete RC and Aircore Sampling
• Salt Lake AC sampling
• Follow Gold Fields QAQC protocals
• Clearing and preparing sites for future drilling programs
• Rehabilitation of drill sites
• Accurate data entry of geological information daily using Acquire and other software
• Preparing samples to be dispatched to the assay laboratory

• Interact with the Senior Geology Assistant and Mining teams to ensure that daily work activities are fully planned and coordinated to ensure effective delivery;

• Complete all tasks associated with the diamond drill core processing workflow;

• Complete accurate data entry of geological information;

• Complete all tasks associated with the daily sample dispatch services to the assay laboratory.

About you:

• Completion of Year 12 secondary school education

• Previous experience in a Geology Assistant role is highly desirable

• Experience in database applications is desirable although not essential

• Current manual C Class driver’s licence

• Ideally you will hold a forklift ticket or be willing to obtain
