The mine is located on the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt, which forms part of the Yilgarn Craton in Western Australia. It is a highly mineralised granite-greenstone terrain with world-class deposits of gold and nickel. St Ives has produced more than 10.5 million ounces of gold, with the first major gold mining expedition commencing in the mid-1980s.
St Ives Gold Mine operates mainly on a residential basis, with employees either living in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie as well as having a fly-in and fly-out option for those not living locally.
With a 10-year life of mine, stability is also on offer.
Role Details:
Reporting to the Senior Engineer: Mine Production, you will facilitate the safe and optimal extraction of gold from the Underground mining operations (Hamlet UG). In compliance with site standards, you will be responsible for all site mining engineering requirements including drill and blast pattern design and production schedule in line with short to medium-term plan.

This role is offered on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster fly in fly out from Perth, or residential Kambalda/Kalgoorlie.

Duties of the role:
-
Assist the Senior Engineer with preparing short- and medium-term plans and forecasts.

Development and implementation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly production plans in line with operational targets.

Develop drill and blast designs that maximise ore extraction and minimise dilution.

Contribute to the stope reconciliation, as well as continuous improvement of dilution and recovery in stopes through design optimization

Liaise with the operational and technical teams for short to medium-term schedule implementation.

Appraising the Underground Manager of issues that may affect safe and efficient production through frequent communication in an appropriate manner.

Be organized and prepared to undertake additional/alternative responsibilities as reasonably requested by Senior Engineer or Underground Manager.
About you:
You will:

Have a BEng degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent

Demonstrate underground mining engineering experience, with exposure to drill and blast design, preferably gold
-
Be team orientated

Having exposure to Mining software Deswik CAD would be highly regarded
-
Possess a valid driver’s license

Can mentor and develop the capability of Graduate Engineers
