The mine is located on the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt, which forms part of the Yilgarn Craton in Western Australia. It is a highly mineralised granite-greenstone terrain with world-class deposits of gold and nickel. St Ives has produced more than 10.5 million ounces of gold, with the first major gold mining expedition commencing in the mid-1980s.
St Ives Gold Mine operates mainly on a residential basis, with employees either living in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie as well as having a fly-in and fly-out option for those not living locally.
With a 10-year life of mine, stability is also on offer.
Role Details:
As Senior Geologist: Exploration, you will be responsible for managing a team of Project and Exploration Geologists charged with the responsibility of new discovery. The primary objective is to add high margin ounces to the resource base to extend the life of mine with new long-life deposits. This will be achieved through the generation of high-quality exploration targets over the +1,200km2 lease holding which will be tested through a staged exploration approach. With a large annual drilling budget, this role requires dynamic exploration and management skills to deliver expectations for finding the new generation of deposits for St Ives Gold Mine.

About the role:

Leading a team of professionals with the clear goal of value-add discovery;

Applying a working knowledge of best practice exploration techniques to lead and mentor the Exploration team to:
-
Prioritise and rank existing targets to develop exploration plans
-
Generate new targets using existing and new concepts within the St Ives exploration space
-
Hold routine project reviews to evaluate the outputs of exploration programs and determine if projects are to advance or retire

Develop, propose and supervise R&D programs
-

Prepare reports, budgets and programs as part of the annual business cycle;

Maintain exploration schedules and forecasts and track against budget to ensure delivery of plans;

Ensure full compliance of exploration activities with site policies and procedures and state and national legislation (ISO 14001);

Work with the Superintendent: Exploration to develop and communicate the site exploration strategy in line with the business strategic objectives;

Promote and maintain a high standard of safety focused exploration.
About you:

BSc (Honours) Geology Degree
-
Extensive exploration experience with knowledge of greenstone hosted orogenic gold systems and regolith interpretation

3D modelling skills using Leapfrog required

Use of ArcGIS, Database and ioGas geochemistry package recommended

Knowledge of acquisition and interpretation of geophysical datasets

Understanding of QAQC processes

Budgeting for large-scale exploration programs

Demonstrated project and contract management experience

Proven leadership, mentoring and communication skills
