Electrical Communications Technician

Situated in the Eastern Goldfields region, our Agnew mine site is 23 kilometres west of Leinster, 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie and nearly 1,000 kilometres north-east of Perth. Acquired in 2001, Agnew Gold Mine produces over 250,000 ounces of gold per annum & is leading the way in the transition to renewable power for off-grid mining operations. The Agnew Hybrid Renewable Project is Australia’s largest hybrid renewable energy microgrid and the first to utilise wind generation at a mine site.
Role Details:
Reporting to the Leading Hand : Electrical, you will be responsible for providing quality and timely preventative installation, maintenance, and repairs of the surface and underground radio communications and telemetry network facilities.

This is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off roster and is FIFO from Perth, or DIDO from local community areas.

Duties of the role:
-
Routine inspections of machinery and fixed plant and carry out preventive measures and condition reporting.

Fault-finding, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of the communications networks. Experience using Spectrum Analyzer and OTDR necessary.

Design and Installation of communications equipment: Leaky Feeder, Fibre Optics, Structured Cabling etc.

Programming Kenwood Digital Radios and Repeaters.

Commissioning of new communication technology introduced to the site.

Recording all relevant information into goldfields CMMS - SAP as required.

Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment
About You:
-
Ideally hold a WA “A” Class Electrical Workers Licence highly desirable

Hold a current manual C Class Driver’s Licence
-
Tertiary qualification in IT, Communications and or Instrumentation is desirable

Prior experience in radio communications, RCT analogue, telemetry networks and maintenance in surface and underground mining environment

Experience with leaky feeder and with Sandvik and Atlas Copco drills highly desirable

Experience with instrumentation and fibre optics is highly desirable

Open cabling ticket with fibre endorsement, structured cabling and coaxial is desirable

Dogging, rigging, working at heights, high voltage switching &/or integrated tool carrier experience and qualifications is desirable
