Gold Fields is a globally diversified gold producer with nine operating mines in Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Peru, Canada and Chile.
Gold Fields' mining assets in the Australia region include a 100% interest in the St Ives, Agnew and Granny Smith mines and a 50:50 interest in the Gruyere JV project with Gold Road Resources.
Role Overview:
Gold Fields is seeking two highly capable Senior Advisors: Contracts to join our Perth-based Supply Chain team. These newly created roles reflect our continued investment in commercial excellence. They will supervise 3 - 5 Contract Advisors each, helping lift portfolio maturity, governance, and risk management across a growing portfolio of high-value contracts.
Reporting to the Manager: Contracts, you will lead the execution of complex sourcing and contract management strategies that deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes while helping shape Gold Fields’ broader contracting model to meet short, medium, and long-term operational needs. These roles will also reduce the tactical load on the Manager: Contracts, enabling greater focus on long-range strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
Offered on a 9-day fortnight, these are permanent full-time roles based in our Perth Corporate Office.

Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Strategy
- Lead regional contract planning and provide strategic input into the development of category and sourcing strategies for complex mining services, capital projects, and operational spend categories.
Advice & Commercial Impact
- Identify and deliver commercial opportunities through structured negotiation, robust scope development, and enhanced contractor performance management.
- Provide coaching and peer review for less experienced team members.
Risk & Governance
- Oversee contract compliance, proactively manage commercial risks, and embed governance through consistent application of contract lifecycle tools (including SAP and Ariba).
- Ensure alignment with Gold Fields’ contract management framework, policies, and audit requirements.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships across key spend categories, driving accountability and value through performance-based contracts.
- Influence and collaborate with Legal, Operations, and Project stakeholders to ensure high-quality outcomes across sourcing, onboarding, and renewal processes.
Team Leadership
- Directly supervise 3-5 Contract Advisors, supporting capability development, workload prioritisation, and day-to-day performance management.
- Act as a senior escalation point for operational contract issues, contractor disputes, and internal advisory.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to policy and template reviews, uplift contract maturity, and help embed a forward-looking, risk-aware contracting approach across Gold Fields’ Australian operations.
- Provide guidance and support for Contract Advisors and the vendor management team.
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Law, Business, Engineering, or similar (postgraduate qualifications desirable)
- At least 5 years’ experience in sourcing, contract development, and negotiation in the mining/resources or construction sector
- Proven ability to supervise or mentor contract professionals within a commercial team
- Skilled in category management, contract governance, and supplier relationship management
- Proficient in SAP Ariba (or equivalent source-to-contract solution), MS Word and MS Excel
- Comfortable working across multiple stakeholder groups with competing deadlines
