About You:

Your extensive electricity and futures trading experience is vital to this role. We’re also looking for someone who:

• Has over 5 years experience trading Australian electricity futures and options and OTC derivatives
• Has extensive existing counterparty network of National Electricity Market (NEM) participants including utility company traders, derivatives brokers, large C&I customers and their advisors
• Demonstrated capability negotiating high value energy or commodity hedge contracts, PPA offtakes and/or other high value energy-related structured product deals
• Has an excellent understanding of NEM spot market fundamentals and proprietary trading experience in options or other derivative products
• Experience in C&I energy procurement and product and innovation highly desirable
• Strong excel and/or Python, PowerBI skills also highly desirable

About the role:

As a Senior Energy Trader in our Commercial Business Unit, you will work with a unique and supportive team to play a pivotal role in trading electricity futures and exchange traded options and OTC derivatives to implement the Contract Trading Strategy of Hydro Tasmania’s integrated portfolio of generation and retailing exposures across the National Electricity Market. Within this role, you will trade electricity and other energy related derivative products as required while leveraging your extensive knowledge of competitor behaviour, physical market fundamentals and electricity derivatives to develop and implement enhanced portfolio optimisation strategies.
