THE ROLE
IGO is seeking an experienced underground mining engineer to join us at our world class Nova Operation in the position of Mining Engineer - Operations. This role is a hybrid role in the sense it will be hands on with day-to-day management and execution of the ventilation and backfill function, combined with a strong continuous improvement and project management focus.
Reporting to the Superintendent Production your key accountabilities will include:
- Act as the Statutory appointed ventilation officer and ensure compliance to relevant WHS regulations;
- Provide operational engineering support to Senior Backfill Specialist and Backfill Co-ordinators;
- Work with the Senior Projects Engineer to drive and execute on operations related improvement projects;
- Manage underground infrastructure projects including escapeway systems and refuge chambers;
- Drive the integration of technology into fixed infrastructure & safety systems underground;
- Provide effective support and guidance to graduate engineers in the ventilation engineering rotation; and
- Initiate routine procedural reviews and updates of procedures and management plans.
YOUR EXPERIENCE

You will also have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering;
- Completion of underground time to meet First Class Mine Manager requirements;
- Underground mining experience with sound knowledge of ventilation, backfill, infrastructure and production activities;
- A demonstrated and unwavering focus on safety;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels within the business;
