YOUR OPPORTUNITY
Exciting things are happening at IGO, including the development of the Odysseus Underground Nickel Mine at our Cosmos Operation near Leinster in Western Australia. Once in production, Odysseus will deliver high quality nickel concentrates into the global nickel market which is growing rapidly driven by demand for nickel rich lithium-ion batteries.
We are seeking a Senior Mine Engineer - Planning to join the Technical Services team at Cosmos.
This is a unique opportunity to play a leadership role in the development, commissioning and ramp up of the underground mine.
You will have the opportunity to lead the design and scheduling of new work areas and life-of-mine infrastructure including the hoisting shaft and associated material handling system.
Reporting to the Superintendent - Technical Services the focus of this role is to lead a team of mine planning engineers to perform underground mine design and scheduling functions.
Key accountabilities will also include:
- Undertaking long-term mine scheduling activities including life-of-mine and budget scheduling;
- Undertaking underground design and evaluation work including stoping area, lateral development and vertical development designs;
- Supervising a team of mine planning engineers to perform stope, level and development designs and deliver medium term mine schedules;
- Develop, implement and maintain appropriate mine planning processes and methods of work to support the ramp up of the operation;
- Engage and manage external consultants where required to support mine planning works.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
We are on the hunt for a strong collaborator and communicator who:
- Possesses a relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering;
- Has significant underground mine design and scheduling experience with sound knowledge of underground stoping operations, ventilation and pastefill;
- Has excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels within the business;
- Is self-motivated and well organised to ensure the timely delivery of projects;
- Possesses advanced Deswik Software skills (both CAD and Scheduling);
- Has a C Class Drivers Licence and National Police Clearance; and,
- Has a First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency, or the ability to obtain one.
