YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Exciting things are happening at IGO, including the development of the Odysseus Underground Nickel Mine at our Cosmos Project based near Leinster in Western Australia. As a result, we are looking for a Senior Coordinator Emergency Services to join the team at an exciting time of growth at IGO.

Once in production, Odysseus will deliver high quality nickel concentrates into the global nickel market which is growing rapidly driven by demand for nickel rich lithium-ion batteries.

We are building a new WHS team at Cosmos. Reporting to the Manager Work Health and Safety; this role will see you support the delivery of company operational and commercial targets in a safe, productive, and efficient manner through provision of professional guidance in health, safety, and emergency services.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Leading a team of Emergency Services, Nurses and Trainee ESO/Security Officers.
  • Leading the development and implementation of site emergency planning
  • Ensuring that the medical centre is operated in accordance with poison’s permit provisions and a high standard of clinical governance
  • Ensuring that the sites emergency response team is developed to a size commensurate with the risk profile of the operation, are suitably trained and able to respond
  • Coach and mentor team members and operational personnel in meeting health, safety, and emergency management compliance requirements
  • Ensure that the site emergency teams and resources are maintained in a high standard of operational readiness
  • Ensure the provision of cover either as site Medic/ESO or by facilitating appropriate cover for team absences

YOUR EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, you will be a team player with a strong safety focus. You will also have the following:

  • Strong technical skills in mines emergency response disciplines
  • Certificate IV in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (or higher medical qualification)
  • Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue/Public Safety (or equivalent); including, Underground Search and Rescue, closed circuit qualifications
  • Cert II in Security Operations
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Experience developing and managing emergency response teams
  • Leadership Qualifications
  • A current WA HR manual driver’s license
  • National Police Clearance
  • Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
