THE ROLE
IGO is an ASX100 clean energy minerals focused mining and exploration company that has seen significant growth in operations and exploration projects in recent years. We currently have three underground nickel mining operations, a 170-person corporate office and a large exploration team working across Australia. We also have a significant indirect interest in the Greenbushes lithium mine through a joint venture.
We are continuing to build our capability and are seeking applications for a part-time Senior Resource Geologist to join our Technical Services team in South Perth. In this role, you’ll work alongside industry experts who will provide development opportunities that will enable you to progress your career towards fulfilling a JORC Code Competent Person’s role.
In this role you’ll primarily be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of geological models used for Mineral Resource estimates. An important component of the role is resource growth made possible by carrying out brownfields targeting and drilling programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the achievement of planned production and safety targets by assisting in the preparation of predictive geological models;
- Provide technical support for operations and projects;
- Assist with preparation of Mineral Resource estimates in accordance with JORC Code requirements;
- Contribute to resource growth by assisting in identification of brownfields targets;
- Assist in technical studies when needed;
- Contribute to technical exchange across the operations, including participating in site visits;
- Provide support and peer review service to IGO’s Mineral Resource estimators; and
- Assist in the preparation of IGO’s annual corporate reports regarding Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimation, and any interim or new reports IGO wishes to report publicly or internally.
YOUR EXPERIENCE

- Tertiary qualifications in Geology coupled with significant career experience in an underground production environment;
- Exposure to brownfields exploration planning and execution will be highly regarded;
- High level of competence in geological modelling using 3D modelling software (Leapfrog preferred);
- Exposure to multiple commodities and mineral deposit types will be highly regarded;
- Significant exposure to Mineral Resource estimation and statistical software systems such as Datamine and Supervisor;
- Experience in technical report writing and presentation along with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook;
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management across a wide audience;
- Valid ‘C’ Class Manual Driver’s Licence; and
- National Police Clearance obtained within the last 2 months.
