YOUR OPPORTUNITY
IGO is an ASX100 clean energy mining and exploration company that has seen significant growth in recent years in upstream and downstream processing assets. We currently have three underground Nickel operations, a large exploration team working across Australia and a significant indirect interest in the Greenbushes lithium mine through a joint venture.
To continue building our capability, we have a newly created role for a Manager - Operational Technology & Innovation to join our highly experienced and supportive technical services team in our South Perth corporate office. This is a key role in contributing to IGO’s growth in sustainable mine and processing operations. The focus is on coordinating innovation and technology initiatives across the group, scanning the external environment for further ideas that might be applicable, and leading the internal process to filter and prioritise projects.
Key accountabilities include:
- Develop an ‘IGO Innovation Strategy’ that sets out a roadmap for where innovation will be sought and how it will be delivered;
- Identify leading and emerging technologies and develop a conceptual view on how IGO Operations could utilise and gain value from adopting.
- Provide technical support for technology and innovation projects within the Operations area;
- Manage IGO’s Patent portfolio to protect IGO’s IP position;
- Maximise R&D tax benefits by improving technical coordination across the metallurgical programs within IGO’s operations;
- Advise on IGO’s battery material products quality and their accreditation for use in the battery industry;
- Identify synergies and develop technical programs between IGO’s nickel/cobalt operations and IGO’s lithium assets/holdings;
- Work with IGO’s Information Technology team to ensure projects are scoped alongside system architecture and security; and
- Be involved in the Electric Mines Consortium (EMC) streams where innovation is applicable, work with discipline experts and site champions.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Along with your leadership capabilities, energetic nature and collaborative attitude, you will also have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications coupled with post-graduate studies in business, economics, project management or another mining related field;
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body e.g. AusIMM;
- Prior experience in Operational Technology and Innovation within the resources industry;
- Substantial experience in mine site operations and specifically technological application;
- Highly developed analytical and report writing skills;
- Highly developed communication and influencing skills;
- Valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence; and
- National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
