THE ROLE
IGO is currently seeking an experienced Underground Mine Planning Engineer to join the Technical Services team at our Nova Operation. Reporting to the Senior Mine Planning Engineer the focus of this role is to complete mine design and scheduling functions.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Undertaking medium-term mine scheduling activities including generation of the three-month rolling schedule;
- Area design and optimisation of stoping blocks;
- Capital and operating lateral development design;
- Stope design, optimisation and preparation of stope extraction notes;
- Design of vertical development;
- Mine services design including service holes and air, water, dewatering and electrical reticulation calculations; and
- Planning, coordinating, and undertaking project work to continuously improve mine performance.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a collaborative and supportive team player who is proactive and enjoys a new challenge.
You will also have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering;
- Completion of underground time to meet First Class Mine Manager requirements (desirable);
- Underground mining experience with sound knowledge of drill and blast, stope design and mine scheduling;
- A demonstrated focus on safety;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels within the business;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and relevant mining software, including Deswik;
- Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence, or the ability to obtain one; and
- National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
