Who We Are

Zinfra is a leading partner in the design, build, operation and maintenance of Australia’s energy and utilities infrastructure. Delivering an annual portfolio of more than $1.2 billion, our work helps keep energy flowing safely and reliably to communities across Australia while supporting the nation’s energy transition.

With a workforce of more than 2,800 people, we deliver complex infrastructure, asset management and field services across Australia’s east coast. Our people draw on deep industry experience, an unwavering commitment to safety, and practical innovation to deliver the right outcomes for our clients and communities.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced HSE Business Partner to provide dedicated support to our growing program of works in the ACT. This is a hands-on role where you’ll spend time in the field alongside operational leaders, frontline teams and contractors, understanding how work is being delivered and helping our people manage risk through practical, workable solutions.

Working across electrical network activities and associated infrastructure works, you’ll provide practical HSE advice, coaching and assurance while maintaining a strong focus on critical risk management and incident learning. You’ll need the judgement and confidence to challenge constructively, build credibility with people at different levels and turn HSE requirements into solutions that work in a high-risk operational environment.

About the role:

  • Work directly with operational leaders, supervisors, frontline teams and contractors to identify and manage HSE risks in the field.
  • Coach and influence teams to strengthen HSE ownership and practical safety behaviours.
  • Undertake HSE inspections, audits and assurance activities, including supporting risk assessments, HSE Management Plans and critical control verification.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, using learnings to drive meaningful and sustainable improvements.
  • Build effective relationships across operational teams, contractors and the client while helping ensure HSE systems and processes are practical and consistently applied.

About You

You’re practical, credible and comfortable operating close to the work. You can move between conversations with frontline teams and operational leaders, challenge constructively when required and turn complex HSE requirements into clear, workable actions. You bring sound judgement, personal accountability and the resilience to operate effectively in a high-risk environment.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • HSE experience in a high-risk industrial environment, ideally utilities, electrical infrastructure or construction.
  • Experience implementing risk-based HSE systems, assurance activities and critical controls.
  • Strong capability in field engagement, operational coaching, incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian HSE legislation, risk management and audit and assurance processes.
  • Relevant HSE qualifications or equivalent practical experience, combined with strong communication and influencing skills.

Why Work With Us

What we do matters. Delivering safe and reliable energy makes a difference to people’s lives across Australia every day. We are proud to keep communities connected while preparing the nation for a renewable future.

We are a certified family-friendly workplace and offer a range of benefits that support our people at work and outside it.

  • Recognition through our Incentivise program
  • Paid parental leave and universal reproductive health leave
  • Employee Assistance Program for employees and families

We champion and value diversity in life and work experiences, because broader perspectives strengthen our problem solving, decision making and ability to innovate.

We welcome applications from everyone, including First Nations peoples, veterans, people living with disability and members of the LGBTIQA+ community.

If you require adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know.

Recruitment Process

During the recruitment process, you may be required to undertake pre-employment checks, including a pre-employment medical, reference checks and a national police check.

Notice to Third Parties

  • Zinfra does not accept unsolicited resumes, or liability associated with fees or costs, from recruitment agencies, search firms or other third parties. Interested candidates are welcome to submit their application independently
