Here's an overview of our role:
We are currently on the lookout for a Communication Network Engineer. You will design, construct, maintain, monitor, configure and support the Communication & Control Systems Infrastructure. This is used to monitor and control assets within the Jemena Electricity Network, in order to achieve Jemena’s legislative, regulatory and contractual obligations and objectives, as well as assist the wider Jemena Group to achieve their communications needs as required.
The role is a full-time permanent opportunity, based in Broadmeadows, VIC, This is a field based role and work outdoors is required, including some working at heights, and supports multiple sites across metropolitan Melbourne.
About the role
- Providing rostered 24/7 on call support for critical SCADA communications infrastructure
- Providing appropriate and timely technical advice on matters relating to field SCADA, communications and control systems
- Develop and manage large switched and routed WAN’s
- Liaising and coordinating infrastructure system changes with key internal / external parties as required
- Supporting the delivery of major and minor capital works and maintenance programs as determined by the business
- Support the Jemena Group to deliver communications assets throughout Victoria as required
About your qualification:
- any of the following qualifications: Degree or Diploma of Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or relevant industry experience
- Open Registration Cablers Licence with endorsements (preferable but not mandatory)
- Australian driver’s Licence
About your experience:
- Experience in a Operational Technology environment or relevant technical role ideally gained within a critical infrastructure utility such as gas, water or electricity
- Demonstrated experience working with contractors, staff members or other key field resources during capital program delivery and ongoing maintenance work
- A demonstrated knowledge of work occupational health and safety requirements
- Knowledge of software packages including SAP and the MS Suite of products
- Experience with multi-site wide area networks.
- Experience with ethernet radio networks and MPLS/TP an advantage
- Knowledge of vendor hardware including OTN, Ruggedcom, and Cisco
- Ability to participate in an availability duty roster providing 24/7 on call support for the Jemena Electricity Network(JEN)
Technical competencies and skillset:
- Working knowledge of routers and switches in an operation technology environment
- The ability to review and implement engineering scope of works
- Demonstrates a high level of communication with the ability to establish networks and productive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Proactive and self-starter able to work under limited supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Embraces flexibility and lateral thinking; facilitates solutions and makes decisions based on an understanding of the relevant issues
- Problem Solving skills and analytical skills
