About the role:
The Dispatch & Control Officer is responsible for delivering fault response outcomes for Jemena Electricity Network customers by supporting the coordination of planned and unplanned outage events. Duties include the allocation of response crews, and direction of switching activity tasks for field based events.
This secondment/fixed term role is a great opportunity for you to gain experience working in an Electricity Network Control room as part of the Network Operation team. The role offers a unique shift roster that is weekday, day shifts only, 3x 12.5hour shifts a week. Work and learn alongside Electrical Network Coordinators with the opportunity to develop the skills up to a Restricted Network Coordinator level 1 (RNC1) Competency. This exciting and fast paced work environment will level up your Emergency and Fault management skills by coordinating the response to faults and outages that direct effect Jemena customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and prioritizing fault jobs received in the digital Outage Management System.
- Monitoring status of field resources to coordinate and prioritize their fault response work schedule.
- Preparation and direction of switching instructions for both planned and emergency fault response work.
- Accurate data entry within multiple systems in an timely manner.
- Receiving emergency calls from emergency services to record and relay significant information
- Timely communication to key stakeholders of escalated incidents (weather)
About you:
- General knowledge of electrical distribution network operating procedures and practices.
- Understanding of electrical distribution network elements, construction, maintenance and testing activities
- Active listener with excellent communication skills using phone, radio and non-verbal communication tools (SMS)
- Excellent computer technology skills to utilize an array of digital software (OMS Outage Management System, DMS Distribution management system, SAP) for effective notification, escalation and reporting of network events.
- Organized team player with sound judgement and critical thinking to remain calm and composed during high activity network events.
