The role:
With plenty of emerging trends and unique real estate offerings, we are thrilled to be able to recruit for an Associate Director (AD) / Director (D) of Capital Markets Research based out of either Sydney or Melbourne.
The primary function of this role is to produce insightful and impactful research on commercial property markets nationally, with a particular focus on capital market trends and forecasting the outlook for key markets including the major CBD office markets. The AD/D will work as part of a national team delivering a wide range of research projects, spanning market research, forecasting, and thought leadership initiatives, and will play a lead role in forming our views on current market trends and the outlook.
Key research outputs will include market reports, forecasts, consultancy projects, thought leadership initiatives and presentations. The role will provide substantial opportunity for client and industry engagement.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse and interpret economic and market research information to produce insightful reports, presentations, and other research materials
- Contribute to the Research though leadership agenda with insight into economic, financial, and property investment trends and new ideas on how the markets will evolve in future
- Use modelling skills to develop forecasts for vacancy, rents, yields and total returns across the Australian markets
- Use analytical skills to assist with consulting mandates and help generate new business
- Deliver research presentations to clients or at industry conferences
- Mentor junior staff and take responsibility for final outputs
- Assist the Chief Economist in coordinating national outputs to ensure consistency of approach across cities and sectors
- Contribute to Research & Consulting team planning and strategy
Who are we looking for?
- 8+ years of research experience in property, finance or consulting services
- Sound understanding of commercial property investment and market participants
- Strong network of industry contacts (desired)
- Tertiary qualifications in Economics/Property/Geography/Valuation
- Strong report writing skills & media liaison experience
- Knowledge & capacity to provide credible market opinions and forecasts
- Strong presentation skills
- Attention to detail
- Advanced MS excel skills
- Econometric modelling experience (desired)
- Professional, collaborative, and confident
