The Opportunity


Join Komatsu as a Technical Trainer, with a key focus on delivering technical training across Western Australia.

This role is well suited to an experienced Mechanical Technician, Mobile Plant Technician, or Electrician who enjoys sharing their technical knowledge and developing the skills of others. We are also open to candidates who come from a training or RTO background, with the technical capability and industry knowledge to deliver mechanical training on Komatsu equipment.

You’ll deliver training to Komatsu technicians, apprentices and customers, with a strong focus on the mechanical operation, systems and servicing of Komatsu machines.

The position is based from our Welshpool office, with regular travel across WA to Komatsu branches and customer sites. We are also open to considering a candidate based in Brisbane, with travel required to support WA training requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical technical training across Komatsu equipment and systems
  • Develop and maintain technical training materials and programs
  • Train Komatsu apprentices, technicians and customers
  • Assess training outcomes and identify opportunities to improve capability
  • Work with technical specialists and internal teams to keep training current
  • Travel across WA to branches and customer sites to deliver training

Role Located: Welshpool WA.
We are open to candidates working from our Sherwood, QLD facility.

About you:

We’re open to candidates from two key backgrounds — experienced technical professionals looking to move into training, or established trainers/RTO professionals with strong mechanical and industry knowledge.

You will ideally have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical, Mobile Plant Technology, Electrotechnology or relevant trade qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the mining or construction industry
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across heavy equipment, mobile plant.
  • Experience with Haul Trucks would be advantageous.
  • Experience delivering training, coaching or developing technicians or experience within an RTO/training environment
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to build relationships with technicians, apprentices and customers
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be advantageous
