About Us

At Komatsu New Zealand, you’ll be part of an inclusive culture where all our people thrive, reflected in our purpose: creating value together. We encourage people with diverse backgrounds to apply for this role.

The Opportunity

Komatsu is a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of world-class construction and mining machinery, offering the opportunity to build a long-term career with a recognised industry leader. Join our Auckland team and help deliver quality machinery to customers across New Zealand.

We are looking for a hands-on Team Leader to oversee our Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) workshop in East Tamaki. Leading a team of approximately 10 technicians, painters and a coordinator, you will manage daily workflow, machine builds, quality checks and on-time delivery of new equipment.

This role combines team leadership with practical workshop involvement, including work allocation, coaching, quality assurance and monitoring work in progress.

You do not need to come from an earthmoving equipment background. We welcome applications from automotive, truck, trailer and diesel workshops, particularly experienced foremen, workshop controllers, supervisors and technicians ready to lead a team.

Role Located: East Tamaki, Auckland
Roster: Monday to Friday – 7:00am to 3:30pm

What we are looking for

  • Experience supervising, leading or coordinating a mechanical workshop team, including as a foreman or workshop controller.
  • A Level 4 trade qualification in automotive, diesel, heavy equipment or a related mechanical discipline.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with an eye for quality, safe work practices and meeting delivery deadlines.
  • Confidence allocating work, supporting technicians, managing WIP and keeping jobs moving efficiently.
  • Clear communication, a practical team-first leadership style and strong organisational skills.
  • A current driver licence; a forklift licence would be advantageous.

Why work for us!

At Komatsu, we have proven career pathways into various exciting fields. We are committed to creating a learning culture and consider the support and recognition of training, learning, development & education as fundamental to achieving your goals. We also provide a range of services and benefits to assist our employees in their personal and professional lives, such as:

  • Kiwisaver employer contribution matched to employee contribution up to 10%.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Free annual medical check.
  • Flexible working hours where practical.
  • 16 weeks of paid primary carer parental leave, 4 weeks of secondary carer leave, plus many more family friendly benefits.
  • Access to an array of technical training, personal development and upskilling.
  • Plenty of discounts across retail, automotive, travel & health products.
  • $3000 referral payment for referring a successful new employee to Komatsu.

Ready to get started? Simply hit the apply now button!

Komatsu offers a zero-harm culture in the workplace and competitive remuneration package. We employ people with different skills, abilities, cultural backgrounds, experiences, preferences, ethnicities and from different generations. Komatsu is committed to a workplace where women can thrive.
