Join us on Victoria’s Big Build, delivering the Victorian Government's rail infrastructure projects. To reflect our broader remit, our organisation name has changed from Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) to VIDA Rail, providing a strong link to our overarching authority, VIDA. We're excited and proud to continue the Level Crossing Removal Project, Melbourne Airport Rail and Big Build Rail projects. There's never been a better time to get amongst the action!
About the role
The Cost Control Officer will play an active role in the planning and delivery of VIDA Rail projects. Working within the Systems & Controls team, you will support project cost control activities, maintain accurate project control data and contribute to financial reporting and claim processing requirements that support successful project delivery.
In this role, you will:
- Assist the Cost Controller in maintaining the Project Controls System and updating EcoSys to support data integrity, accurate reporting and timely project information.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports, including staff resources, FTE forecasts and month end accruals.
- Process monthly Alliance and Contractor progress claims, check compliance with contractual requirements, prepare payment schedules and resolve payment claim issues as they arise.
- Enter progress claim data into Oracle Unifier and assist with invoices, cost coding and owner participant progress claims.
- Support the Work Package Team by undertaking internal project tasks as required.
The role is a 3 year fixed term position, paying a salary between $100,894 – $114,476 plus superannuation with hybrid working arrangements (a mix of CBD office and home/remote based working).
About you
You will bring strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to supporting cost control and project reporting activities. You are comfortable working with financial information, meeting deadlines and engaging with stakeholders to resolve issues and keep project information accurate and up to date.
Let’s get technical – what skills do we expect you to have?
- Experience supporting cost control, project controls, financial reporting, claims processing, invoicing or accrual activities.
- Strong planning and prioritising skills, with the ability to organise work, manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in a busy project environment.
- Confidence using project control, financial or reporting systems. Experience with EcoSys and/or Oracle Unifier would be highly regarded.
- A collaborative communication style and the ability to work effectively with project teams, finance stakeholders, alliances and contractors.

What next?
To apply – just submit your CV.
No need to submit a separate address of the key selection criteria, and no need for a cover letter. Instead, we like to ask a couple of assessed questions in the application form (200 words max) to get to know you better outside of what is written on your CV.
In this instance the questions are:
- Please describe your experience supporting cost control, financial reporting or project controls in a complex project environment.
- Tell us about a time you processed, reviewed or reconciled claims, invoices or accruals. How did you ensure accuracy and compliance?
- This role requires planning, prioritising and working collaboratively with project stakeholders. Please provide an example of how you have managed competing deadlines while maintaining strong relationships.
After assessing your CV and answers to the above questions, the next steps of the recruitment process might include:
- a phone screen to learn more about you, and you to learn more about us
- an interview to understand more about things you have worked on in the past
Please note: the successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which include national police checks and misconduct screening.
