About Liberty

Helping people is at the core of who we are. As Australia’s top non-bank lender, we’ve spent decades providing free-thinking and innovative loans and have assisted over 500,000 individuals in achieving financial stability. Our range of flexible, tailored products and our dedication to creating outstanding customer experiences are at the heart of what we do.

We are a collaborative and vibrant community, driven by our core values. Our vision of leading the finance sector with innovative thinking is guided by FLAIR, our five key principles of being Fair, Learning, Accountable, Invested, and Resourceful. These values shape our perspective, interactions with customers, and relationships with one another.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team and help ensure that what Liberty builds and deploys is secure.

This is a hands-on engineering role with real breadth. You will spend your time on DevSecOps, infrastructure as code, and application security tooling, with genuine ownership of the work.

You will also play a meaningful part in how Liberty thinks about AI security. The way we secure AI is going to grow significantly, and if you are excited by AI and want to do real work in this space, the runway is here.

What your day will look like

  • Embed secure development practices into how Liberty builds software, including secure SDLC, code and pipeline security and threat modelling.
  • Support the secure design and deployment of cloud infrastructure, including reviewing and writing infrastructure as code and applying security baselines.
  • Operate and tune our application security tooling and integrate it cleanly into developer pipelines.
  • Help mature our AI security capability and the controls that support its safe adoption across the business.
  • Provide technical remediation guidance on penetration test, audit and vulnerability findings.
  • Contribute to cross-Technology engineering forums on security topics that benefit the wider department.
  • Document architecture, solutions and implementation guides clearly enough to be useful to people outside cyber.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, technologies and countermeasures, and bring that thinking back to the team.

Enough about us, lets talk about you

Enough about us, let's talk about you

  • 4+ years of experience in a cyber security engineering or equivalent role.
  • Proficiency working with cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
  • Solid working knowledge of cloud security and posture management.
  • Comfortable working alongside developers and DevOps engineers, with a strong working understanding of how modern software gets built, shipped and run.
  • Hands-on experience with code security and embedding security into CI/CD pipelines, code scanning and dependency analysis.
  • A genuine interest in AI and how to secure it. You do not need to be an AI expert, but you should be motivated to work on it.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent qualification.
  • Recognised cyber security or cloud security certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Exposure to ISO, APRA or CDR frameworks is an advantage.
