We hire people who already care about technology and help them become great technical recruiters.
Sometimes that's a developer who wants to be in a more people focused role. Sometimes it's a product manager who wants more autonomy. The glue that binds us at Lookahead is that we care about technology and bringing people together. Each of us has experience in a software team, and it's that empathy for how products are built that helps us match the right people to the right companies. If you love technology and are curious about what a people focused role is like, get in touch. If you have that technical grounding and have recruited before - we'd love to chat.
Fiona Chan is a developer-turned recruiter who works with us now. Here are two blog posts about her experience:
THE ROLE
From day one you'll have clients who need your help hiring software engineers. They're companies who are making their own software products that care about building high performing teams.
You'll use the knowledge you gained working in software teams to spot talented developers. The obvious ones, and the not so obvious. You'll visit potential new clients and figure out if they're the sort of place developers would be able to do great work. You'll get involved in technical communities and contribute in a meaningful way.
It's a relaxed office environment with a supportive, diverse team who love to share their knowledge.
You'll be supplied with a high end computer, a tablet, and your mobile phone is covered. We never skimp on technology. We don't skimp on training either.
We’re a small, tight knit bunch. We love getting to know each other over a lunch, impromptu gelato run, our quarterly get togethers and annual Team Hang.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- A genuine interest in technology.
- A long term focus.
- Ability to write good.
- A sense of humour.
You'll earn a base salary around $80-$100k. Could be more if you're an experienced tech recruiter. When you’re up and running with commission coming in, you’ll be earning a fair bit on top of that.
