Why Work with Us?
At Main Roads we are committed to delivering a world-class road network and creating positive, lasting impacts for WA communities. We play a critical role in overseeing the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations of major roads and highways across the State.
We work closely with our portfolio partners, Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, and Public Transport Authority as well as local governments to support the needs of all road users across the state by providing an integrated world-class road transport network. As we continue to grow and improve, we are seeking experienced Traffic Escort Wardens.
About the opportunity:
Heavy Vehicle Services (HVS) is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable heavy vehicle access to the Western Australian road network. Our role is to achieve objectives for road safety, transport efficiency, community amenity and preservation of the state's road asset. At HVS we work with state and national transport industry groups, individual operators, government bodies, regional areas and other key departments across Main Roads.
Main Roads is currently seeking to fill a number of positions with suitably skilled Traffic Escort Wardens. Applicants found suitable for the role will initially be placed on a suitability list that will operate for up to 12 months. Applicants will then be appointed to roles as required.
The Traffic Escort Wardens play a critical role within HVS, working across the state in various metropolitan and regional areas to provide on-road escort control of high-risk Over Size Over Mass (OSOM) vehicles. In this role you will travel with OSOM vehicles and ensure compliance with the relevant processes, procedures, policies, regulations, approved permit and operating conditions, whilst ensuring the safety of all road users and minimising the disruption to traffic flows and the public.
This role will involve extensive travel and will require you to be working away from the metropolitan area for the duration of the roster period. To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate aptitude and attitude to safely escort OSOM vehicles, the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies, and the ability to work well with others and build relationships with transport operators.
Please refer to the job role statement for a full list of responsibilities.
