About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our dynamic Employee Relations team at Main Roads. You will be responsible for providing an Industrial Relations (IR) and/or Employee Relations (ER) advisory service to managers and employees to resolve complex workplace matters. This includes:

  • Participating in negotiations with unions and employees on workplace and industrial relations matters and assisting in negotiations of Main Roads industrial instruments.
  • Performing research, analysis and providing time sensitive advice to management and employees.
  • Preparing high quality written material including the development of guidelines, documents, and templates to assist managers in dealing with IR & ER issues and problems.
  • Effectively interacting, building and maintaining relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Case managing Employee Relations matters including discipline, health management and performance management, while ensuring procedural fairness for parties involved.

About You

You will have considerable skill, knowledge, and experience in Industrial Relations and/or Employee Relations with a focus on problem solving and delivering positive outcomes in a large and complex organisation.

Your ability to research, analyse and provide advice to management, employees and unions, including in conflict situations matters, will be critical to your success in this role.

Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interact, build and maintain relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders, are essential.

  • A copy of your current Western Australian ‘C’ or C-A” Class (car) motor vehicle drivers’ licence or an approved equivalent.

  • A statement outlining your considerable skill, knowledge and experience in the following three (3) criteria in no more than three (3) pages:
    1. Contemporary industrial relations or employee relations experience with an emphasis on delivering satisfactory organisational outcomes.
    2. Providing advice and options to management, employees and unions for resolving workplace issues including in conflict situations.
    3. Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships.
