We are currently looking for a Program SERQ Manager to work on the MTM Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) Project. The Program SERQ Manager shall ensure safety aspects of the MAR project are addressed and delivery packages are managed in compliance with Metro Safety Management System and relevant legislation.
The position is part of the MAR leadership team and will provide SERQ advice to the MAR project director. This position also works closely with the General Manager SERQ Projects and Program SERQ managers from other portfolios to drive continuous SERQ improvement across the division.
These roles will support critical projects for MTM in supporting Victoria’s ‘Big Build’ Infrastructure Program. Reporting directly into the Project Director, in this role you will work with the MAR leadership team to achieve this goal on the project. This role will lead the SERQ function on the MAR project and is responsible for developing and implementing a MAR strategy which reflects the MTM Projects division SERQ plan.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Work closely with package teams and package SERQ managers to ensure MAR alliances have strong safety management systems in place which comply with MTM’s responsibilities under its accreditation from ONRSR and drive continuous improvement for the project with Rail Projects Victoria (RPV)
- Provide support, training and capability building for all key stakeholders to ensure consistent application / compliance with divisional and corporate SERQ directions
- Provide guidance and advice to the business to support in the effective resolution of SERQ issues in line with the MTM governance process.
- Accountable for the overall management and delivery of risk and assurance to support project milestones whilst ensuring communicating performance expectations, monitoring / evaluating performance, training, and coaching is conducted.
- Seek continuous improvement in our safety practices and implement the Corporate Safety and Annual Business Plan.
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key stakeholders informed.
About You
- Tertiary Qualification/Professional qualifications in OH&S or a related discipline desirable or demonstrable professional experience.
- Experience in implementing risk management strategies at divisional or organisational level
- Experience and knowledge of principles of Quality Assurance and Compliance and implementing SERQ systems and procedures to ensure that legislative requirements are met
- Experience managing and mentoring a small team
- A good working knowledge of occupational health and safety and other associated legislative requirements is essential; knowledge of rail safety legislation will be highly regarded.
- Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to whilst managing complex situations, having solid problem solving and negotiating skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally & written will all levels of stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, ability to write reports and manage time effectively.
